Baja's Infinite Mysteries is a voyage designed to explore all that Baja California and the Sea of Cortez has to offer. Today, the first day of our voyage, was the perfect beginning. The day started with an encounter with pilot whales and bow-riding bottlenose dolphins. Then we took to the water around Los Islotes, snorkeling and exploring by Zodiac.
The Sea Lion cruised north all afternoon searching for more marine mammals. We were rewarded with a group of fin whales -- the second largest whales in the world -- feeding along the mountainous coast of Isla San Jos‚.
Today's photo shows the characteristic dorsal fin of a fin whale as it surfaced just off the bow of the ship. It was a moment not soon to be forgotten.
