Today guests of National Geographic Resolution continued through the Northwest Passage toward Gjoa Haven, Kitikmeot, Nunavut. Our day at sea started in a misty fog and was filled with excellent presentations about the historical route that we are travelling as well as insightful interpretation about the arctic mammals we have been observing. As the ship traversed through the ice, naturalists and guests alike kept a keen lookout for any signs of wildlife. The day was cold, with strong winds on occasion, so it was comforting to enjoy the views from the warmth indoors, admiring the beauty of this unique landscape we are travelling.
The hotel team prepared a special Canadian teatime of beaver tails, a deep-fried dough that is stretched to resemble a beavertail, its origins dating back to the 19th Century in Canada and now a delightful treat to be enjoyed by all.
