National Geographic Sea Bird spent the afternoon cruising through Canal de Soledad, witnessing the landscapes of Baja California Sur with its incredible blue seas backdropped by dark green mangroves and stunning beige sand dunes.
After a wonderful presentation by Naturalist Kelly Coursey Gray about the magnificent star of our expedition, the grey whales, guests and staff disembarked the ship for hikes across Isla Magdalena’s sand dunes for an incredible finale at the Pacific Ocean. While hiking, staff pointed out incredible plants among the dunes with awe-inspiring adaptations to live in such a low moisture environment. Along the Pacific Ocean, guests found sand dollars and various shells scattered across the beach.
The day wrapped up with a lovely dinner, as well as a presentation (by yours truly!) about the incredible lives of echinoderms, including sand dollars, sea stars, and sea cucumbers.
