National Geographic Orion
Rangiroa, Tuamotu Archipelago French Polynesia
Today in Rangiroa, the largest atoll in the Tuamotus, was nothing short of enchanting. As National Geographic Orion sailed through the pass to our anchorage, playful dolphins guided the ship, adding to the magic of the moment. Once anchored, we roamed through the quaint town, immersing ourselves in its laid-back island charm. When it was time to snorkel, the ocean greeted us with its friendliest fish yet—many swam right up, eager for a visit! Beneath the surface we spotted sharks gliding gracefully, long cornet fish weaving through the currents, and a giant moray eel peeking from its rocky home. Butterflyfish danced through the water in vibrant swarms while a kaleidoscope of sea life made the reef their sanctuary. Meanwhile, the scuba divers ventured to the outer reef, just beyond the pass where schools of fish swirled and dolphins' songs echoed in the distance. It was the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation—snorkeling with curious fish, marveling at the stunning reef, and soaking in the island’s serene atmosphere. A day full of unforgettable experiences in one of the most beautiful places on earth!
