Richard Cahill
Richard was born in Panama City to American parents. He is a seasoned naturalist guide and expedition leader. Educated in business administration, Richard was one of the founding pioneers of the first ecotourism company in Panama 25 years ago.
His passion for learning, his attention to detail, his enthusiasm and his ability for sharing his vast knowledge on varied subjects of the natural sciences, history and culture, have led Richard to become one of Panama's top guides.
With ample knowledge of the Panama Canal watershed gained by over 400 nature tours of the area, multiple ocean to ocean Trans Darien expeditions and Camino Real treks, he still finds time to scuba dive in the bountiful waters of Panama's Caribbean Sea and to search for splendid avian rarities in the cloud forests of Chiriqui.
Richard's experience transcends his native land. He has been contracted by many prestigious operators and he can often be found guiding on trails in Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Venezuela’s Orinoco River, Guyana’s Amazon River and the Galápagos Islands. Richard is one of the co-founders of Ancon Expeditions of Panama and when he is not in the field leading tours, he his busy inspecting potential destinations and developing new trips for the company.
