Lindblad Expeditions is proud to be the first company in the cruise industry to pioneer and adopt a revolutionary disinfection technology, Purity Now. Purity Now is a combination of two synergetic products, ACT CleanCoat and ACT ECA System. ACT CleanCoat is based on a disruptive technology that is specifically engineered to fight harmful microbes.
Tests have demonstrated that when ACT CleanCoat is applied to surfaces they become self-disinfecting and decompose microbes like bacteria, viruses, airborne mold spores, and chemical compounds like VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds). Once exposed to light, it starts a photocatalytic reaction that decomposes microbes and purifies the air and significantly reduces the presence of microbes (such as bacteria and viruses), VOCs (including NOx) and mold spores in the air. To ensure a continuously reaching of our targets, the hygiene levels are monitored regularly and the coating of the surfaces are refreshed once a year.
The effectiveness and environmental benefits of this cleaning system inspired Lindblad to roll it out fleetwide. During Lindblad’s 1-year trial, guest-reported illness dropped by 50 percent. Other fleetwide benefits include reduced water usage by approximately 1.1 million gallons annually, and the elimination of approximately 1,000 single-use plastic bottles from the waste stream.
