Ralph Lee Hopkins

National Geographic Photography Expert Ralph Lee Hopkins is the founder of the Expedition Photography program for the Lindblad-National Geographic alliance. For more than 20 years he has led expeditions from the Arctic to Antarctica and points in between. An inspiring teacher, Ralph’s enthusiasm for the creative aspects of photography is contagious and is chronicled in his most recent book, Nature Photography: Documenting the Wild World.

Wade Davis

An ethnographer, writer, photographer, and filmmaker, Wade Davis holds a degree in anthropology and biology and received his Ph.D. in ethnobotany, all from Harvard University. He is a professor of Anthropology and the BS leadership Chair in Cultures and Ecosystems at Risk at the University of British Columbia. He has been described as, “a rare combination of scientist, scholar, poet, and passionate defender of all life's diversity.”

Kiliii Yuyan

Kiliii Yüyan is an award-winning photographer who specializes in Arctic photography and indigenous issues. His four-year project on the subsistence whaling culture of the Alaskan Inuit will appear in the December 2018 issue of National Geographic magazine, and he has also produced stories for National Geographic Traveler China. Kiliii’s work has also been published by TIME, The Nature Conservancy, NPR, and the BBC, and his images have won awards from Communication Arts, PDN, and The World Photo Organization.

Nick Cobbing

Photojournalist and filmmaker Nick Cobbing aims to highlight themes of science and natural history through personal stories. His story on the future of Arctic sea ice appeared in the January 2016 issue of National Geographic magazine. He has also worked for media brands like GEO (Germany), The Sunday Times Magazine, and the BBC.  He teaches regularly in Antarctica, Norway, and the Arctic, using the camera to connect students with the landscape and themselves.

Camille Seaman

Camille Seaman has spent the last two decades documenting the rapidly changing landscapes of Earth’s polar regions. Her work has appeared in National Geographic, Outside, TIME, The New York Times Sunday Magazine, and American Photo, among other outlets. She leads photographic workshops all over the globe and enjoys inspiring others to develop a unique visual voice.

Peter Hillary

Peter Hillary is the son of Sir Edmund Hillary, who was the first man to reach the summit of Mount Everest with his climbing partner Tenzing Norgay in 1953. He is the first second-generation to climb Mount Everest, he has climbed the Seven Summits (the highest mountain on each of the seven continents), and he has been on more than 40 mountaineering expeditions around the world.

Minik Rosing

Greenlander by birth and geology professor in Denmark, Minik Rosing has united science and art in reading history in rocks and ice, and united outdoor adventure and academia into discoveries that have reshaped our understanding of life on Earth. He has led more than 20 geologic field expeditions across Greenland. His interests include the emergence and evolution of life on Earth and the effect of biologic processes on the geochemical evolution of Earth.

Mensun Bound

Born in the Falkland Islands, Mensun Bound was the Triton Fellow in Maritime Archaeology at St Peter’s College, Oxford, and the director of the first academic unit for underwater archaeology in England. Known as the "Indiana Jones of the Deep", Bound has conducted wreck surveys and excavations all over the world in a career that spanned 40 years. In 2022, he was part of the expedition team that famously discovered Shackleton’s Endurance in the Weddell Sea.

Louis Henry Mitchell

As Creative Director of Character Design, Louis directs and oversees most aspects of character art for Sesame Workshop, the non-profit organization behind Sesame Street. As out Artist-in-Residence, he will give talks and sketching lessons to encourage the creation of artisitc works inspired by the beauty of the regions we’ll explore.

Andrew Revkin

Andrew Revkin is an environmental journalist and Founding Director of the Initiative on Communication and Sustainability at the Earth Insititute of Columbia University. Throughout his 40 years on the sustainability beat, including more than 20 years with The New York Times, he became one of the world’s most innovative and lauded climate reporters.

Ian Toll

Ian W. Toll is a writer and independent scholar. He is the author of several highly regarded works of military history: Six Frigates: The Epic History of the Founding of the US Navy, and The Pacific War Trilogy, a three-volume history of the war in the Pacific. Six Frigates was the 2007 recipient of the Samuel Eliot Morison Award for Naval Literature and the William E. Colby Military Writers Award. Toll has been widely published in newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, and the Boston Globe.
