Split, Trogir, and Mostar Pre-Voyage Extension

Extraordinary experiences in a beautiful land with rich history
Discover the great Old Towns of Split and Trogir, whose cobblestones, ancient buildings, and narrow lanes combine the richness of the past with the vibrancy of the present. See historic Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where you’ll visit the beautiful, renowned Old Bridge, whose rebuilding has come to symbolize the rebirth of the Balkan States.
Day 1 - Split

Arrive in Split, Croatia’s second largest city, and transfer to the Hotel Park. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure with this well-located property as your base.

Day 2 - Split

Delve into the bustling port city of Split this morning, and discover the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Diocletian’s Palace, more a small city than a single palace. Built by Emperor Diocletian as a sumptuous place to retire, this site is now a beguiling maze of marble streets, churches, and fortifications that tell the history of the city from the Romans and Byzantines to the modern day. It maintains a lively pulse of shops and street merchants to this day. The afternoon is free for you to explore on your own. (B,L)

Day 3 - Trogir / Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina

A morning drive takes us along the Dalmatian coastline to medieval Trogir, a small island town also designated a UNESCO site, whose main square, cathedral, streets, and alleyways invite exploration. Enjoy a typical Dalmatian lunch at a local restaurant before heading to historic Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This beautiful town spans the Neretva River and is famed for its Old Bridge. The spectacularly graceful bridge stood between 1556 and 1993, when it was destroyed during the Yugoslav civil war. It has since been lovingly rebuilt using stone from the original quarries, and–along with the surrounding Old Town–has been named a UNESCO World Heritage site. Check in at Hotel Mepas. Dinner tonight is at a local restaurant.  (B,L,D)

Day 4 - Mostar / Split / Embark Ship

Take a morning walking tour of historic Mostar before enjoying free time to explore on our own. After lunch, return along the Dalmatian Coast to historic Salona, which was capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia and the likely birthplace of the emperor Diocletian. Late this afternoon we embark the ship in Split and begin our voyage. (B,L)
