National Geographic Expert and paleoanthropologist Donald Johanson is renowned for discovering “Lucy,” the fossil of a female hominin australopithecine, on November 24, 1974. We were honored to have him join us recently aboard the new National Geographic Islander II as a special guest speaker in the Galápagos. This was Johanson’s second time visiting the legendary islands and he took a new approach to exploring. Here, he shares more about that as well as the adaptive changes made by Darwin’s famous finches.
