Today was one of the most exciting days of our expedition! We started the day visiting the Charles Darwin Foundation and the Giant Tortoise Birthing Project. During the visit we saw two-month-old (not so giant) giant tortoises and some over 100 years old. Then we explored the town of Puerto Ayora to experience the culture and, if so inclined, do some shopping. Before noon we headed to the highlands of Santa Cruz to visit a local hydroponic farm. Here we saw how the lettuce we consume on board has been grown with this environmentally friendly technique.

We went to El Manzanillo Ranch for lunch. Here, we were surrounded by giant tortoises. We walked along the trails exploring the area and had time enough to practice our photo skills and get a National Geographic-worthy picture next to these incredible creatures. Today we had a wonderful and exciting expedition!
