This morning we visited the ancient fishing town of Rovinj, which still exhibits a distinct Venetian character, architecture, and dual language signs, after centuries of rule by “La Serenissima.” We climbed up the hill to the majestic cathedral of St. Euphemia, then through Roman ruins and the maze of little lanes, typical of any small town that took form in medieval times. Next we explored the central part of the Istrian peninsula, visiting San Tommaso winery, where we savored local products offered on cutting boards and tasted autochthon wines. Sea Cloud II was waiting for us in the old Istrian capital of Pula, where we had the option to eat lunch on board or enjoy local restaurants. In the afternoon we visited an amazingly preserved Roman amphitheater which still proudly stands as the main landmark in modern days. We finished the day with a sunset dinner on the lido deck.

Sea Cloud II
Adriatic Sea
Our memorable day aboard Sea Cloud II unfolded under clear Adriatic skies. After a leisurely breakfast on deck, passengers were invited to climb halfway up the rigging with the help of the crew. Harnessed and guided, they rose above the deck, surrounded by sails billowing in the wind — a thrilling glimpse into traditional seamanship. Later, a guided tour took guests through the bridge, where officers explained navigation tools and weather charts; continuing down to the engine room, the quiet power behind the ship’s grace was revealed in polished pipes and humming machinery. Lunch featured fresh seafood, homemade pasta, and chilled white wine, all served alfresco with views of the Croatian coastline. The afternoon brought time for reading or simply watching the sails catch the wind. As the sun began to set, the day closed with a candlelit dinner, followed by quiet conversations and the soft rhythm of the sea. It was a day balanced between elegance, discovery, and the timeless romance of sailing.
