For our second day exploring Magdalena Bay, guests on National Geographic Sea Lion visited Puerto Magdalena. This little village is home to about 100 people who spend their time fishing and guiding whale watches for visitors from around the world.

Once on the island, guests were able to choose from several different adventures including hiking, biking, or relaxing with a local legend at his restaurant. Hikers had the opportunity to learn about local flora and fauna, while the biker gang set off exploring the Pacific side of the island. The rest of the group got to meet Jose Chejo, an entrepreneur with a restaurant. While Jose answered our questions we enjoyed fresh ceviche, fried tortilla chips, and cool drinks at the restaurant. It was such a treat to hear Jose’s story and learn more about the part of the world we are exploring on this trip. We’re looking forward to more adventures tomorrow.
