Our second day of the expedition around Panama and Colombia took us to the beautiful town of Portobelo, which was a critical point between the Spanish colonial Commerce, during the 1600s.

Guests were able to admire and enjoy the essence of an authentic Spanish Caribbean village where military fortresses, churches, and breathtaking landscape engulf this town.

Later, we experienced an amazing cultural performance by the popular Congo dancers of Panama, a true testament of the African culture and heritage in the Americas.

We returned to National Geographic Quest to plan for an afternoon dedicated to water sports and wildlife. The cove of Venas Azules gave us wonderful opportunities to observe pristine mangroves with abundant life.
