Today we explored the Pacaya River; this beautiful area of the forest is home to a great variety of species, including giant river otters and caimans. We began early with the sunrise, and after some exploring we enjoyed our breakfast in the middle of the forest. We also visited a ranger station where river turtles are bred as part of a conservation program. After a refreshing swim in this river, we headed back to our ship.
In the afternoon we took a relaxing and interesting walk along the Ucayali River, particularly the sandbanks that form during the low water season. Here we had the chance to walk at our own pace, take a mud bath, and enjoy the sunset.
