We all travelled from far and wide to join each other on National Geographic Orion. We have come together to travel through the Solomon Islands and end our journey in New Zealand. Today was the very first day of our adventure.
After a wonderful breakfast, we set out in Zodiacs to Owaraha Island. Upon landing, we were met by a welcoming party. They certainly impressed us with the element of surprise. We met the very friendly locals and enjoyed seeing ancient dance performances.
Then we set off to explore the island. Some of us hiked across the island while others took truck rides to the other side. We gathered in a village, where we met welcoming people. Some of us went into the “spirit house.
We finished off the evening with the Captain’s Cocktail Party and a wonderful dinner. As always, the day was full of highlights, and we left with unforgettable memories of this very special place.
