We spent the day at Misty Fjords National Monument enjoying its natural beauty. In the morning, we anchored in Walker Cove where we were able to kayak and go for Zodiac rides. We were delighted to find a black bear, a mink, and eagles on the shoreline.
We returned to National Geographic Sea Bird for lunch and to reposition to Punchbowl Cove. While preparing for the polar plunge, we got word that there was a big brown bear in the area. We were able to quickly get into Zodiacs and spend some time observing the bear eating sedges on the shoreline.
After the excitement of the bear, we had the chance to do a polar plunge. A few daring people braved the cold water and were rewarded with cheers and applause from the rest of the group watching from the deck. The Global Explorers then got the chance to learn how to drive the Zodiacs and showed off their skills cruising around the ship.
Our last evening was spent reflecting on all the beauty and fun we’ve had, celebrated with a slideshow made up of everyone’s favorite photos.
