Our action-packed first full day began with killer whales cruising by the ship at sunrise during the transit north to Isla San Marcos. Guests enjoyed brief glimpses of the orcas as they surfaced in the distance with a gorgeous, orange-pink sun coming up over the horizon.
Our morning operations began with a beach snorkel from the Island of San Marcos where plenty of fish, invertebrates, and even an octopus were seen by excited snorkelers.
Rounds of kayaking and various levels of hikes filled the afternoon. We kayaked through some gorgeous coastal scenery, including rocks filled with birds above and fish below. The hikes ventured across the beach and back inland to explore the arroyo. We returned just as the sun was setting for cocktail hour, recap, and dinner with all of us pleased by the day and excited for the following days in the Gulf of California.
