It was a typical Alaskan day for weather but an exceptional day for wildlife at the Inian Islands. After a hearty breakfast and putting on extra layers of clothing, everyone had an opportunity to take an adventure by Zodiac.

Several humpback whales were in the vicinity of National Geographic Venture while at anchor. Once in the Zodiacs, everyone was able to observe quite a few humpbacks at sea level. In addition to the whales, sea otters, Steller sea lions, harbor porpoises, pelagic cormorants, pigeon guillemots, black legged kittiwakes, bald eagles, and a peregrine falcon were spotted from the Zodiacs. Everyone was impressed with the density and diversity of wildlife on this particular adventure.

The afternoon was an exploratory visit to Mud Bay with a variety of hikes on offer as well as kayaking and paddleboarding.
