The day started cool and overcast and sprang into balmy sunshine by the afternoon. This was perfect for investigating the temperate rainforest. A highlight of the afternoon was the discovery of a rough-skinned newt by two different hiking groups. They blend perfectly with the moss and forest floor detritus. It was wonderful spending time in a lush, verdant rainforest with family and new friends.
