Today we woke up inside the majestic caldera of Genovesa volcano, which happens to be in the northern hemisphere. We started very early in the morning with a pre-breakfast visit to Prince Philip’s steps. We saw red-footed boobies everywhere; here we have the largest population in the world, some 200,000 individuals. Later in the morning we had a phenomenal experience practicing with our snorkeling gear.
After lunch we set out for kayaking near the cliffs of the island, where we saw many seabirds nesting and resting on the rocks all along the coast. In the afternoon we had an excursion at Darwin Bay, where we enjoyed more unique wildlife. It was a beautiful first full day in Galapagos!
