Even though Lewis and Clark saw mostly rainy days when they over-wintered at Fort Clatsop, our visit was made in sunshine and pleasant temperatures. As we came ashore from the Sea Lion and walked through the restoration of their fort, we marveled that thirty-three people could have lived in such cramped quarters. The craftsmanship is excellent and promotes a feeling of kinship with the Corps of Discovery and their experiences of nearly two-hundred years ago. We have spent a week seeing where they traveled; sharing the sights they saw. Our respect for their perseverance to accomplish their goal is blended with the spirit of camaraderie we have found traveling in the wake of Lewis and Clark.
