The afternoon was spent kayaking in a mangrove habitat and taking Zodiac tours among towering cliffs of welded tuff. We also watched yellow-footed gulls screaming with their necks stretched up in a long call that sounds like they are laughing at our trivial pursuits.

Los Islotes is an island near Isla Espiritu Santo that has about 150 winter-resident California sea lions. We spent the morning watching their antics. These adorable animals cannot help but remind one of yellow Labrador retrievers.
