A large group of bottlenose dolphins approached the ship as we steamed towards Isla San Jose. The pressure wave created by the hull of the ship parting the water is a favorite place for the dolphins to play, and guests leaning over the railing at the bow got an eyeful of dolphin both below and above water. The dolphins stayed with us for over half an hour, playing in our wake as well our bow wave, leaping ten feet into the air and doing perfect head first entries. It was a spectacular beginning to our second day of the voyage.
The day ended well too. At sunset a lone fin whale treated us to a breach or two, and then to close looks as it swam steadily southwards.
