Fernandina and Isabela Island
The mighty Polaris approaches one of the richest areas in the Galápagos, sailing from the middle of the archipelago to the untamed waters of the west, on the way to one of the jewels of Galápagos that is Fernandina Island. The weather outside is perfect for an early morning walk and as all of us take a glimpse outside our windows, we feel as though we just arrived to a pre-historic place. We find myriads of birds flying, sea lions swimming and our ever so naughty friends, the penguins. All of our guests set out for a hike combined with a Zodiac ride where silence can be felt and animals just parade about as if we did not exist. Just after the visit, we set out again for our snorkeling activities. As we came back to the ship, we could not believe how much we had seen: iguanas swimming, turtles dancing around for us, sea lions in the water; all of these animals just waiting to play with us, as graceful as ever!
We then return to the ship for lunch and we set off for our next island, the largest in the archipelago. As we are on our way, hundreds of common dolphins decide to do flips and turns around our ship and we decided to cooperate and do some maneuvers of our own to stay and play with them! While we are enjoying this excitement, we cross the equator and a visitor comes on board: King Neptune with a rather unusual companion, BATMAN! So, everybody gets properly baptized. The hours go by rapidly and it is time for our Zodiac ride around the majestic cliffs of Ecuador Volcano and our ever so thrilling Zodiac driving classes, especially designed for our younger guests. Put in the words of our younger guests, the afternoon ROCKED!
