Española IslandEspañola is one of the most unique islands that we have in the Galápagos. Here, there are at least four different species of animals that can’t be found anywhere else in the archipelago. Endemism is really high in this rather small piece of land. That fact, together with the astonishing landscapes, made today’s outing another successful one. Our morning was spent snorkeling and swimming from a long, white sandy beach. Sea lions were even at short-lens range, making this area a true paradise even for the non-professional photographers.

The afternoon was just as great. The walk along the cliff section of the island had the most of the wildlife. Hundreds of sea birds like the Nazca boobies were coming back to their nesting ground to feed their young babies. Blue-footed boobies and the famous endemic waved albatross were among the favorites for our guests. We were so lucky to observe part of the courtship dance of albatross. We couldn’t stay the whole two hours that it usually takes, but it was sufficient time for us to understand the commitment that these beautiful birds have to each other. Sailing away from the island with the sunset at our side was surely a unique experience. Today is the last day of our journey through these enchanted islands. You might think that you are leaving the Galápagos tomorrow, but the Galápagos will never leave you…
