Today we visited Floreana Island, in the southern region of the Galápagos archipelago. It is one of the four inhabited islands, with a small human settlement of approximately 120 to 150 people. Its geology, wildlife, and human history are just amazing. It is dotted with volcanoes, some small and some large; all these volcanoes are old, so there is no more volcanic activity in this region.

Attractions at this island include colonies of flamingos and blue-footed boobies, and the legendary post office barrel. Today we were able to admire the flamingos from a close distance, and we also left messages at the post office barrel, just like the early voyagers.

What an amazing day!
