It’s the second full day of our expedition aboard National Geographic Endeavour II and we are visiting Floreana Island. We started the day with a pre-breakfast walk on a green sand beach and visited a pond where we sometimes find flamingos.
After breakfast we enjoyed water activities, such as a Zodiac ride and snorkeling at a satellite islet next to Floreana, called Champion.
In the afternoon the ship changed location to Post Office Bay where we found one of the oldest postal systems in the Pacific Ocean. We selected postcards to hand deliver upon return home and left post cards for others to deliver, keeping the tradition that the whalers used when they visited the Galapagos in the 1700s. Also, we enjoyed kayaking around the bay and had an amazing day in this enchanted archipelago.
