We arrived to Floreana, one of the inhabited islands of the Galapagos. We visited very interesting sites today, including Punta Cormorant and Champion Islet in the morning and Post Office Bay in the afternoon. These sites are important pieces in the natural and human histories of the Galapagos.

We started with an early morning nature walk to look for blue-footed boobies along the green beach. We were lucky to encounter a Pacific green sea turtle as it returned to the ocean after laying eggs in the sand dunes. While exploring, we also spotted a couple stingrays feeding in the water.

We returned to the ship for breakfast. As soon as we finished, we started Zodiac tours. We enjoyed viewing the nesting sites of different species of seabirds that live on the cliffs. We returned to the ship again to prepare for a snorkeling session that ended up being a fantastic experience for our guests. We had the chance to swim with whitetip reef sharks, Galapagos sea lions, and hundreds of different species of fish. Various animals gather in this islet, as there is plenty of food available and beautiful water conditions.

In the afternoon, we visited Post Office Bay. We had the opportunity to kayak and paddleboard, and some guests visited the oldest mailing system in the world. The post office barrel was established by whalers in the late 1700s. Today, we continued the tradition by leaving behind our own correspondence and taking with us letters and postcards left behind by fellow travelers, which we will hand deliver when we return home. It was very fun to participate in this legendary activity.

We had an incredible day on Floreana. We were blown away by its beauty, and now it’s time to move to the next destination.
