Today, National Geographic Orion continued its long sail to the very remote Rapa Nui Island, also known as Easter Island. The day was full of great presentations by our knowledgeable staff, interesting observations of birdlife at sea, and a wonderful and fun after dinner show by our crew.

Right after another delicious lunch on deck, we passed by Ducie Atoll, located east of Pitcairn Island and considered the southernmost atoll in the world. As we sailed closer to the coastline of Ducie Atoll, we had the opportunity to see lots of seabirds, including red-footed boobies, great frigatebirds, Murphy’s petrels, and even a few Herald petrels. Today was a great sailing day as we make way to Rapa Nui!
