Guests and staff woke up in a new time zone and in another country as National Geographic Sea Bird pulled up to the customs dock in British Columbia. After a smooth transition, National Geographic Sea Bird cruised through the foggy Grenville Channel towards Klewnuggit Inlet. Once clocks were shifted forward, National Geographic photography expert Michael Melford presented on his past published work, sharing personal stories as well as stunning photographs.

As the day continued with cruising, the sun burned off all the fog and exposed beautiful views of British Columbia. Guests took in the scenery from the ship’s bow as the sun rays danced across the water. Due to great timing, impromptu Zodiac cruises were conducted in Klewnuggit Inlet, where calm waters created a perfect atmosphere to explore. Between rounds, naturalist Frankie Wilton presented on, “Omnivore’s Delight: The Edible Bounty of the Northwest Coast.” Guests learned about sustainable foods as well as local harvesting of wild plants and animals. As the day wound down with cocktail hour, recaps, and dinner, excitement built for the adventures of tomorrow, as well as the next few days in Haida Gwaii.
