We are still head-on into an easterly wind, something strange for Antarctica. It was an adventurous night, and after years of working in this region and experiencing dramatic weather, I am always amazed by the resilience and dedication of the crew. They complete many tasks while continuing to look after us, and they do it all with a balance that would impress anyone. Most importantly, they do it with a smile. This crew is what makes these trips so great, and it is their care, their warm and comforting presence, and their attention to detail that make the entire trip such an enjoyable experience. No matter Mother Nature’s mood, the crew of National Geographic Endurance shines, and we are all grateful.
