Today was a day filled with sunny Baja skies, whale encounters, and a shell-filled sunset hike to Sand Dollar Beach. In the morning, we hopped into pangas with local pangueros and set off for Bahia Almejas. We were greeted by whale blows in the distance and as we approached the bay, we watched hours of gray whales spy hopping, breathing, and even swimming under the pangas. Bahia Almejas is a truly a magical place.

In the afternoon, we cruised north in Magdalena Bay so we could explore ashore. We took the Zodiacs over to the Isla Magdalena and hiked out to the famous Sand Dollar Beach. The walk to this beach is incredible; instead of trails, we meandered through sand dunes, coaxed by the sound of crashing waves. After traversing the dunes we arrived at Sand Dollar Beach and stayed until sunset. We returned from our hike to beach barbeque, filled with music, bonfires, and delicious food. It was a lovely day in Baja!
