National Geographic Orion spent the day sailing east toward the tip of Papua New Guinea. In the morning, we cruised through the Torres Strait, the shallow basin that separates the Australian Cape York Peninsula from the island of New Guinea. We enjoyed beautiful ocean views and took time to relax in the sun on deck. Our naturalists and National Geographic photo expert gave talks throughout the day. We learned about ocean plastics, conservation, World War II, and marine creatures. The day ended with a fantastic sunset. What a day!
