Nathan Lesser

Nathan Lesser is a skilled marine biologist, experienced boat operator, and certified EMT with a passion for nature, exploration, and education. A third-generation San Diegan and lifelong waterman, Nathan has dedicated his career to understanding and protecting marine environments while inspiring others to connect with the natural world.

Nathan holds a degree in marine biology from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where the university’s “learn-by-doing” philosophy allowed him to conduct algae collections, intertidal habitat surveys, and boat excursions through Morro Bay. Since then, Nathan has applied his expertise in a wide range of environments, from the icy waters of Antarctica to the tropical coasts of Mexico and Costa Rica, as well as Alaska and the remote Aleutian Islands.

Nathan has been driving rescue watercraft since he was 18, honing his skills in crowded San Diego waters as a lifeguard and assisting big wave surfers in Northern California. In addition to his work on the water, Nathan is a dedicated substitute teacher, sharing his knowledge and inspiring curiosity in students across various subjects. His ability to adapt to dynamic environments, combined with his scientific expertise and medical training, makes him a versatile and valuable professional.
