Dexter Sear

Dexter grew up in England where a love for exploring the countryside ignited a lifelong passion for discovering natural history and embarking on adventure. As a teenager, two trips to India sparked a fascination with insects and a desire to share a “hidden” macro world was born. He produced a popular insect website and authored a reader digest about cultural entomology.

Moving to the United States in 1982, his first multimedia production, entitled Pure Muir Madness, used a bank of projectors to document a 230-mile backpack through the Sierra Nevada Mountains. It was at that point Dexter discovered the power of a well-crafted production to move an audience. A deepening dedication to mastering audio/visual media germinated.

After graduating from UC Davis with a focus on computer graphic design, Dexter has enjoyed over 30 years of creative collaborations with a broad spectrum of clients. He currently focuses on videography and photography and has produced numerous shorts and documentaries while living in the Hawaiian Islands.

Dexter is excited to be part of the National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions team. He aims to seek out and capture magic moments of light, behavior and sound. Dexter is particularly interested in inspiring guests to explore the fusion of photographic and videographic media. His production goals are to move audiences by simply capturing the essence and magic of our shared experiences and encounters; inspiring an infectious appreciation for each moment.
